Remember these two? Exciting news!

Remember these two beautiful gals from LIFT 2017?

In case you don’t know them, meet Emily and Jessica – two amazing young women who helped make our January LIFT event happen! From decorations to food and too many other details to list, we couldn’t have made it through the night (and the weeks leading up to it) without them.

And on that note, we’re excited to share this news…

Last week, Pam, Kirsten and I had dinner with Jessica and Emily to talk about plans for 2018. (Yep, we’re already planning another wonderful event for you.)

Not only did they have great ideas and suggestions for LIFT in general, they will be playing a lead role in planning for next year!

These two women have an energy about them that is contagious. Their friendship is fun to witness too (they actually met at LIFT 2016; we’ll share that story with you in the future because it’s pretty neat).

Both Jessica and Emily have amazing talents and experience with planning, marketing, and virtually all that goes into making an event special. They share our passion to help women be the best they can be and are both great examples of living inspired, fearless and thriving! (We love how they’ve jumped into LIFT with both feet, excited about what’s ahead. We are too!)

We are truly honored that they are so generously volunteering their time to help us find a venue for next year, plan desserts for the night, and create an overall theme for the decor. (They even coached us on “flow” of guests around the dessert tables at LIFT… you can see why we need them!) We want our events to make you feel like the special person you are and we know you’ll feel their touch at the next event.

Please join us in welcoming Jessica and Emily to the LIFT team. They are dynamo women doing amazing things in our community – and we feel lucky to have them on board.

Stay tuned for more updates to come, as our schemes and dreams for LIFT 2018 continue to unfold. Great things ahead! (And to make sure you get the latest updates, be sure to join our FB group and subscribe to our blog.)

LIFT featured in Eagle Magazine!

Hi friends,

We have exciting news to share! LIFT has been featured in Eagle Magazine:

We were so grateful to be contacted for this interview and to have an opportunity to share about LIFT — what the event is, how it got started, our heart behind it, and some of our own personal stories.

Read all about it and join us in sharing the link and spreading the word! We are already planning LIFT 2018, a couple of workshops, and several discussion groups for this next year — and as we always say, the more the merrier!

We’ll be in touch soon with more updates and fun,

Genny

This is what it looks like when you #dolifewithpeoplewholiftyou! (our planning retreat weekend)

Pam, Kirsten and I just got back from our LIFT retreat and I’m excited to share some photos and updates with you! We drove to beautiful McCall, Idaho to spend time casting vision and planning, and we are thrilled about all that’s ahead.

But before I get to that, here are some pictures of our time together…

It was snowy and gorgeous and SO MUCH fun. The weekend was filled with hard work, plenty of laughs, great food, and late nights talking. You were on our minds as we mapped out the year ahead and we are looking forward to these upcoming activities:

  • We start our Tough Questions discussion group next Monday, March 6th! You’re still welcome to join if you haven’t signed up; simply contact us here and let us know. This group will be getting together to explore life’s tough questions (any question is game!) and will meet four times throughout March and April (3/6, 3/13, 4/3, 4/10). We all wrestle with questions in life, and we love the growth and connection that happens when we process them together. Meeting time is 7-8:30pm. Location TBD and will be communicated to signed up participants soon.
  • We will be holding our second Conquering Fear Workshop this summer, 2017! The last workshop sold out quickly, so be sure to stay tuned for updates. We will be picking the location and date soon and will post about it here on our blog and in our FB group when we do.
  • Other discussion groups that you indicated an interest in are in the works for the future and you’ll be hearing more about those in months to come.

And that’s just some of what’s going on! More info and updates to follow as we gear up for LIFT 2018.

We want you to know we are grateful to have you as part of the LIFT community and we welcome your feedback at any time! (In fact, if you have an idea for a venue for our LIFT 2018 event, let us know. We are currently evaluating options and would love to hear your thoughts.)

Oh, and if you want to get the inside scoop on all the LIFT happenings (more photos, conversations, and recommended articles and inspiration), be sure to join our FB group so we can keep in closer contact with you. 🙂

Talk soon!  #dolifewithpeoplewholiftyou!

Exciting LIFT follow-up opportunities!

lift-signs-1

It has been a couple weeks since LIFT happened! I am still reveling in all that took place that night. I love looking at the pictures of so many smiling women and am savoring the emotions I felt as you all filed into the room. Let’s just say I am feeling LIFTed!

Kirsten, Genny and I are excited to connect further with you and welcoming you into the LIFT community. Based on your feedback (at the event and when you’ve stopped to say hello when we’ve run into you around town) here are the exciting opportunities we have in the works for you:

  • Book discussion (new offering): S.H.A.P.E. Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life by Erik Rees. Thursday mornings for eight weeks, starting February 23rd. This book will be of particular interest to those who connected with my talk on “living the dash.” It is a Christian-based book, but as always, I would love for women of all faith perspectives to join in on the discussion!
  • Group discussion: Exploring Life’s Big Questions. Genny and I will meet with this group of interested women four times (3/6, 3/13, 4/3, 4/10 from 7-8:30 pm). The questions will be discussed in a safe, open environment and will be determined by what YOU want to discuss! Questions like, “Is there a purpose for my life?” and “If God is good and loving, why does He allow bad things to happen?” The purpose of this group is to explore our questions together, learn from and be challenged by one another. This is a great way to apply the principles of Kirsten’s talk on building bridges as we lean in and seek to really understand one another as well as learn something in the process. If you are interested and haven’t yet let us know, please see the contact link below. And if you marked this as one of your interests on the feedback card at LIFT, you’ll be getting an email from us soon!

But that’s not all.

Those are just our immediate offerings. In the coming months we’ll have more information on:

  • Conquering Fear Workshop: date TBA, likely June.
  • Purpose and Productivity Workshop: date TBA, in the fall.
  • More discussion groups; rolling dates announced over email.

And if none of these “scratch where you itch,” please remember, I am always available and open to having one-on-one conversations over a cup of tea or glass of your favorite drink. Lunch works too. I’d absolutely LOVE to connect with you in that way!

Please respond to this (reply to email or send a message through our website) to let us know which of these options you’re interested in (and what day/time).

Can’t wait to see you again!

Pam

LIFT 2017 – What a night!

LIFT 2017 was incredible! If you made it to the event, we are so glad you were there! What an awesome thing to see that many women come together for a night of fun and inspiration. From the delicious desserts, to the amazing giveaways, to the inspiring conversation that took place around community, friendship and living out our purpose, it was a night to remember and celebrate.

A huge thank you to Debbie from Road Less Traveled Photography for capturing some highlights of the night for us. Here are just some of the moments that happened…

Thank you to all of the generous women who provided prizes for us to give away, all of our amazing volunteers who worked so hard to make the night happen, and all of YOU who came to the event. We were also blown away by all the donations you brought for City Light women’s shelter; thank you so much!

We were sad to see the night end and are already looking forward to LIFT 2018!  Be sure to stay connected with us on our blog and our FB group so you don’t miss any of the details!

Teaming up (and we’ll see you on Wednesday!)

Teaming up with friends

The coach shouted just one word to the five girls on the court:

“Doubles!”

My daughter and her teammates immediately shifted their defensive strategy and double-teamed their tall, ball-carrying opponent. It proved to be the best answer to end the flurry of scoring the opposing basketball team was enjoying.

I admired the coach’s wisdom. The girls couldn’t determine why their tactics weren’t being effective, but the coach had the benefit of experience and the ability to see from the sidelines what was happening in the “big picture.”

The coach could see that the best answer was to double up on the adversary.

Maybe the same wisdom applies to our lives, too? I don’t think we’re meant to go through life alone. Especially when we’re facing challenges. So often when I’ve shared a struggle, my friends have stepped in with practical assistance or helpful advice. And even when nothing can change the circumstances, companionship in the journey buoys the heart and makes the burden lighter.

What burden are you currently carrying alone? What keeps you from asking for help with the load? Is it fear of rejection, that nobody will help? Or shame that you need it? What is it that makes you think you have to go it alone?

My friends, you don’t have to.

Someone else is feeling overwhelmed by her opponent, too, and would be so glad to have a teammate come alongside—you’ll be more effective together no matter what you’re facing.

Let’s call a different defensive strategy, gals. You heard the coach: Doubles!

If you don’t have your tickets yet, it’s not too late to join us. Plan to buy your ticket soon, though, because we’ll have only a limited number of seats available at the door (and the price increases to $20; cash/check only). Online ticket sales end at midnight Tuesday night. And don’t forget to bring a donation to City Light if you’d like to (see the last Wednesday’s blog post)!

Eventbrite - Lift 2017

**LIFT is a gathering of women to help you Live: Inspired, Fearless, and Thriving. Our events are designed to help women discover their true identity and purpose, and then live that out with passion. The heart behind LIFT is to bring women together in community. At each of our events, Pam Strain, Kirsten Holmberg and Genny Heikka share three inspiring talks on topics women care passionately about.

LIFT in the news! (and an update on tickets)

In spite of this crazy Idaho weather, we were excited to be able to head over to KTVB’s Channel 7 news yesterday and share about LIFT! What an awesome opportunity — and so much fun. Here are a few pictures of our adventure, below!

(Oh, and if you haven’t already gotten your ticket, be sure to do so soon! Seats are filling up really fast and we are closing online ticket sales Tuesday, January 24th at midnight. A limited amount of tickets will be for sale at the door, but the price goes up to $20 each – cash/check only please. Hope to see you there! img_4476
